We are a large group of independent artists who work or have recently worked with CTC.
We know how difficult it can be to manage a patchwork of jobs from different venues, and the vulnerable position that taking a stand and speaking out can put us in.
Since we have published our statement of solidarity in early Summer:
- Survivors and litigants have begun contacting us, telling us how important it is to them that we are speaking out.
- CTC admin has begun back-tracking its public stance on the abuse, and listening to our calls for action.
- Many in CTC leadership still seem to be in denial about how big of a concern this is to the larger Artistic Community.
We are encouraging each other to have the courage to communicate with CTC admin about our concerns.
Here are some examples of how other artists have navigated these conversations:
- Neighborhood Bridges Teaching Artists support survivors.
- After 14 years, a Teaching Artist declines contract.
- Actor refuses Call to Audition
